What is a deadlift bar and how is it different from a normal barbell?
A deadlift bar is a specialty bar built only for deadlifts. The ATE Deadlift Bar has a thinner 27 mm shaft (vs 28-29 mm), more whip (flex) and is longer at 2330 mm with wider sleeve spacing. The extra whip lets the bar bend so you start the pull from a slightly higher position before the plates leave the floor, and the thinner shaft is much easier to grip - both help you lift more.
Why does a deadlift bar have more whip and a thinner shaft?
The whip means the bar flexes before the weight breaks the floor, effectively reducing your range of motion off the ground so you can move heavier loads. The thinner 27 mm shaft cuts the circumference by nearly 6 mm, dramatically improving grip strength and giving a more secure hold for big pulls.
What is the difference between the ATE deadlift bar and the squat bar?
