What is the difference between a men's and women's Olympic barbell?
A women's Olympic bar is shorter and thinner for a better fit and grip: the ATE Women's 15kg bar has a 25 mm shaft and is 2010 mm long with no centre knurl, versus the Men's 20kg bar's 28 mm shaft at 2200 mm. Both are IWF-spec competition bars with hard-chrome finishes and a lifetime warranty on bending.
Is the 25mm shaft easier to grip for smaller hands?
Yes. The 25 mm shaft is the IWF women's standard - thinner than the 28 mm men's bar - so it suits smaller hands and gives a more secure grip during the snatch and clean & jerk, while still being a full competition-grade bar.
